Lapu-Lapu Mayor Arturo Radaza on Tuesday admitted that local administration party was using sample ballots and voting guide folders in their campaign.
Radaza, who attended the administration party’s rally in barangay Mactan, told those who attended the rally that they were not violating any election rules by doing it.
He said that the purpose of the voting guide folders and the voting drills in barangays is to educate voters about poll automation.
Radaza, who is running for congressman for the lone Lapu-Lapu district, saidthat naturally, the pre-cut holes of the voting guide folder would favor them because it was their campaign material.
He said that if voters refuse to use it during their voting drills, then they won’t be forced to use it.
The voting guide folders had prompted the Liberal Party and the Nationalist People’s Coalition to file separate complaints at the Comelec seeking to ban the folders. They said they feared that the folders would be used in vote-buying during election day./Correspondent Carine M. Asutilla
