POLICE shot dead a man who held three children hostage inside his house in Toledo City, Thursday morning.

One of the three kids was wounded while two others were safe. The hostage-taker, Allan Bolo, invited the three children in his house at 6 a.m for a meal of boiled root crops.

But he tied up two children around his body while he carried the other one on his shoulder. Armed with a knife and a bolo, Bolo asked for an armalite from police and threatened to kill the children if they don’t give him a firearm.

After six hours of negotiation, police shot the hostage taker to disable him but Bolo was hit in the chest. One of the children sustained a slash wound in his armpit and right arm from Bolo.

Toledo police rushed Bolo and the kid to Carmen Copper Hospital but Bolo was declared dead on arrival. The kid was transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
