Police arrested three persons and destroyed shanties used by drug users in pot sessions during a morning raid yesterday in sitio Dita, barangay Pulangbato, Cebu City.
The subject of the search warrant Jeffrey Kapalaran evaded arrest.
He was not around during the operation.
However, several packs of suspected shabu were recovered inside his house.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-7) was armed with a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Enriquita Belarmino.
Arrested were Archie Cabrillos of barangay Canduman, Mandaue City, habal-habal driver Eufrocino Borres and Roland Ople Codilla of barangay Budlaan.
Cabrillos was arrested near the huts after he allegedly sold shabu to a CIDG-7 operative. He tried to resist arrest when Insp. Delfin Bontuyan accosted him.
A scuffle ensued, and Bontuyan sustained bruises in his right arm.
Borres was arrested after police found a pack of suspected shabu in the utility box of his motorcycle.
Codilla was also arrested after he was caught holding a pack of suspected shabu in his left hand.
At least seven shanties a few meters from Kapalaran’s house were destroyed by the raiding team where they found sacks of tin foil.
Pulangbato barangay councilor Alicia Minoza witnessed the operation led by Chief Insp. Fermin Armendarez.
She confirmed that illegal drugs was a problem in Pulangbato, one of eight city barangays identified by the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council.
One female resident thanked the police after the operation. She said drug users who loiter in their place to sniff shabu were from Mandaue City and Consolacion town./ CHITO O. ARAGON
