Bruised after being mauled by civilians who arrested him yesterday dawn, Basilides Ponce was brought to the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office this afternoon where three counts of murder and illegal possession of firearm were filed against him.
Ponce is among the suspects linked to the shooting spree that occurred in a variety show in barangay Tamiao, Compostela town that killed three people and injured several others last Monday evening.
Just this morning the sister of Jaime Pateño, one of the victims called the police confirming his death.
Among those killed is the husband of Tamiao barangay captain Lilian Yraola, Marieto and Marilou Mahinay who was at the community basketball court where the variety show was held in preparation for their fiesta this Saturday.
Ponce was identified by residents as the gunman who fired two shots at the back of Marieto’s head and fired random shots to the crowd which injured seven people.
Ponce vehemently denied involvement in the incident and ownership of the .22 revolver with two live bullets./ Correspondent Rhea Ruth Rosell
