THE houses of a retired policeman and a barangay councilor were strafed in separate shooting incidents in Bogo City, northern Cebu.
No one was seriously injured.
Police said politics may have something to do in the strafing of the houses of Constancio Cueva Jr. and Teofilo Tudtud.
Cueva, a retired policeman, is one of the security officers of Bogo City Mayor Celestino “Junie” Martinez Jr.
Tudtud is a councilor in barangay Cayang and a political supporter of Martinez.
Police said Cueva and his family were asleep when their house was shot up at 12:15 a.m. yesterday.
Cueva sustained scratches in the legs when he was hit by broken jalousie blades.
Police recovered 21 empty shells for a .9mm pistol, 24 empty shells for a .45 pistol and several deformed slugs outside Cueva’s house.
Tudtud’s house was strafed by two unidentified men on board a motorcycle about 30 minutes later.
Barangay Cayang is about six kilometers from barangay Taytayan.
Tudtud and his family were inside the house during the attack.
Police are still looking for witnesses who could help identify the culprits./REPORTER RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL
