Angered over her refusal to reconcile with him, a construction worker stabbed his wife and his father in-law in Dalaguete town, southwest of Cebu last Monday evening.
Rolando Plarisan followed his wife Maricel to the Mantalungon, Dalaguete public market and tried to convince her to come back with him at their home in Guihulngan town, Negros Oriental.
Police said Maricel rejected him because he used to beat her up frequently. Rolando reportedly signed an agreement in Gihulngan town in which he promised not to bother her.
The suspect followed Maricel and her parents to their home and stabbed Maricel in her nape while she and her family were about to eat supper. Her father Lucas Binarao tried to restrain him but was stabbed in the left armpit.
Maricel’s nephew was also wounded during the incident. The family cried for help and neighbors helped the victims to the Julio Cardinal Rosales Hospital in Dalaguete where Lucas died.
Maricel also accused her husband of setting the family home on fire while they were in the hospital. Plarisan remains at large.
