A FIRE razed 193 houses in an urban poor community in barangay Mandaue City, this morning.
Initial investigation revealed that the fire which broke out at 8:16 a.m is caused by electric misuse. The alarm raised to Task Force Alpha brought neighboring fire departments to help douse the fire.
The narrow interior road leading to the burning houses made life difficult for firefighters. Zone Lower Camansi in Paknaan, Mandaue is a resettlement site of the Mandaue City government.
Acting Mayor Glenn Bercede will declare the area a calamity site to expedite the release of assistance to the fire victims.
