At least two persons were rescued while five are still missing when the banca they rode in was struck by giant waves off Bantayan island, Cebu.

The seven boarded a pump boat at Tangginggi islet in Madridejos, Bantayan island and were headed to Kinatarkan island, Sta. Fe.

In between Kinatarkan island and Malapascua island a big wave struck their banca around 9 a.m. sweeping them off the boat. The banca sank an hour after.

A fisherman managed to save Ramon Beringuel and Romy Barro and brought the two to the shores in Kinatarkan.
