THE new chief of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Central Visayas (DENR-7) said he would keep an eye out for the Capitol’s compliance with its Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) involving its Balili property in barangay Tinan-an, Naga City.

Regional DENR-7 Executive Director Maximo Dichoso, who was previously assigned in Northern Mindanao, said he will work towards requiring compliance from applicants of the agency’s Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC).

Among those to be monitored is the provincial government which recently secured an ECC to install a coal ash facility in its Balili property. Dichoso said he plans to visit the coal ash facility site sometime soon.

He also said he will invite local ecology groups for an open forum to discuss environmental concerns in Cebu. / Reporter Candeze Mongaya
