RED wine was served  during Thursday’s  testimonial dinner hosted by the Cebu City government to celebrate its 74th Charter Day.

Wine bottles labeled  “Michael Rama” drew stares  and provided a novel touch to an eight-course dinner at the Casino Español.

Rama  said  the special labels were made for the  May 2010 election.

“That (the wine served during the testimonial dinner) was actually  excess wine that I have in the house. Some are asking for wine, so I put  it out. Why should we buy when I still have some?” Rama said in a phone interview.

“The city didn’t spend for that.”

“That was from me and it’s got a BO-PK sign on it,” Rama told CEBU DAILY NEWS.

Rama's face appears on the labels of Don Barroso Vino de Mesa wine with his favorite quote “Together, we make things happen.”

Above his picture is the Bando Osmeña-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK)  acronym and the Cebu City Hall facade in the  background. If bought from The Wineshop, which is its exclusive distributor, the wine would cost P200 to P750 per bottle.

Guests were served grilled pork, steamed fish, chopsuey, green salad, macaroni salad, mocca mouse cake and sliced fruits./CORRESPONDENTS JEMARIE JANE AUGUSTO AND EDISON DELOS ANGELES
