About 10 houses are in danger of being damaged after a portion of the retaining wall for a condominium project along General Maxilom Avenue collapsed towards the excavation about 2 p.m.

Affected residents in sitio Santa Teresita were advised to temporarily relocate for fear of a landslide following the collapse. Police, fire department and Cebu City Disaster teams rushed to the area to ensure the safety of the residents.

Asdec Corp., the contractor hired by Taft Property Development to build 55-story residential condominium, Horizons 101 assured assistance for the affected families.

Cebu City Administrator Jose Mari Poblete said the retaining wall isn’t stable enough while the excavation of the building’s foundation is ongoing.

The Office of the Building Official (OBO) of Cebu City issued a cease and desist order to stop the work on the project.
