Landslides render roads impassable, endanger residents

Heavy rainfall caused sporadic landslides in Campo 4, a hinterland barangay in Talisay City, endangering the lives of 65 families living near the area since last Saturday.

Barangay officials asked the residents to evacuate and take temporary shelter to the barangay hall and public school but they refused to leave their residences.

They however agreed not to sleep in their houses at night time when they could not monitor the landslide.

Motorists traveling to and from the cities of Toledo and Cebu find it difficult to pass through the area as the soil covered the road. In Campo 4 elementary school, 250 students were absent due to the impassable roads./Correspondent Carine Asutilla
