An 18-year-old man who had just been released from an orphanage where he stayed for 15 years was found dead in barangay Toong, Cebu City.

Jerry “Boy” Mansalay had a bullet wound in the head when he was found by the road at 5 a.m. yesterday.

No clear motive has been established yet in the killing, said Chief Insp. Sara Jean Recla, chief of the homicide section of the Cebu City police.

Police said Mansalay was still three years old when he and his two siblings from Silay, Negros Oriental were turned over by their grandparents to the SOS orphanage in barangay Talamban.

Last June, Mansalay asked to leave the orphanage and worked in a restaurant in barangay Kasambagan.

Police said Mansalay lived in barangay Pardo after he left the orphanage.

Police said Mansalay was killed a few hours after he was picked by three men in his home.

Virgilio Berdin, a tanod in Toong, said a vehicle was seen speeding away from the area where  Mansalay was found dead.
