Alphonsian Run kicks off on Oct. 21 in Lapu-Lapu

THE Saint Alphonsius Catholic School Alumni Association Batch ‘88 will hold another edition of the “Alphonsian Run 2012” on Oct. 21 starting at the Lapu-Lapu City Hall grounds.

Held in partnership with the Lapu-Lapu City government, the second Alphonsian Run is part of the scholarship program of the school’s alumni association named the Sis. Restituta Roble Scholarship Foundation which is aiming to fund outstanding but less fortunate students to study in the school as part of its “I Help Send A Child to School Today” program.

The running event will feature 3-kilometer, 6k and 15k distances to be handled by veteran race director Joel Baring of Sports and Fitness Enthusiasts (SAFE). The official race route will traverse mostly Lapu-Lapu City’s major roads.

Cash prizes and exciting gift certificates will be given to the top three winners in each category. Registration fee is pegged at P300 for the 3k and 6k distances and P400 for the 15k race.

Special registration rate discounts will be given to public school teachers, students and police trainees while onsite registration is available during race day.

Registration areas are located at the Easy Travel and Tours in Lapu-Lapu City, Lapu-Lapu City Hall, RUNNR Ayala Center Cebu, Gaisano Grand Mall Mactan, Toby’s Sports SM City Cebu and A Runners Circle at Raintree Mall.  /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
