ABOUT 50,000 signatures supporting the passage of a sin tax reform bill were gathered by the Department of Health in Central Visayas.

However DOH said if one were to count the “Likes” and “Shares” of their anti-smoking campaign photo, their supporters count to a million.

In the DOH-CHD-7 official Facebook page, a photo that read “Yes to Sin Tax Bill, No to Smoking” garnered more than 700 likes and more than 600 shares.

DOH-7 Information Officer Suzette Jabonette said 41 government officials, organization heads and members, ordinary citizens signed the open letter supporting the bill’s passage by the Senate.

A copy of the letter will be published in the local dailies over the weekend. They also called on the Senate to help tobacco farmers shift to either vegetable or crop farming./Correspondent Jessa Chrisna Marie Agua
