The road repairs on United Nations Avenue in Mandaue City leading to the Marcelo Fernan Bridge will be completed in the first week of November.

The road contractor Pablo Bacalso Obial said as of today, the project which has caused traffic gridlocks in the vital bridge connecting Mandaue City to LapuLapu City in Mactan Island, is 75 percent complete.

The third phase of the project which is the outer lane going to Mandaue City is on its curing stage and will be opened on Tuesday next week.

Obial said the last phase is already on the cementing of the 300 meters out of the more than 900 meters lane.

P. B. Obial is the contractor of the Department o f Public Works and Highways for the project.

The contractor said, they have been working double time since the third week of August as advised by DPWH, in order to finish the project three months before its scheduled completion date, on February 3, 2013.

He added that they are making sure that everything is done including putting on the white and yel l ow thermoplastic pavement by October 30, to avoid inconveniencing the visitors during the thanksgiving celebration for the sainthood of Pedro Calungsod.

“We have been working double time, 24 hours a day, to make sure we finish by the last week of October,” Obial told CDN.
