A man accused of robbing a City Hall worker was shot and wounded in the thigh  by policemen   in barangay Carreta, Cebu City.

Boyet Rosales Cuerpo, 23,  was later brought  to the hospital  after what police said was a shootout.

Cuerpo was identified as the one who robbed Georgia Artis, 24, in a gas station in Carreta last Monday night, said Chief Insp. Romeo Santander, chief of the City Intelligence Branch (CIB) of the Cebu City police.

Police said Artis was in her car when a man arrived, pointed a gun at her while declaring a hold-up.

The robber fled with the woman’s  two cell phones.

About noon yesterday, police rushed to Carreta after they received reports that Cuerpo, who lives there, was spotted  in the area.

He said  they introduced themselves as policemen but the suspect drew a .38 revolver and opened fire.

Santander said police fired back.
