2 men drown after drinking bout

TWO friends drowned while they were swimming with friends in the waters off barangay Luray 2, Toledo City, Cebu.

One of the victims remained missing, said police.

The two victims Goddie Macapobre and Remy Russel came from a drinking session with their friends when they decided to take a dip around 2 p.m. last Saturday.

Police said while they were swimming, Russel saw Macapobre struggling in the water.

Russel tried to save his friend but  they were carried away by the strong current of the water.

The body of Macapobre was found floating around 3 p.m. The man was brought to the hospital but he was declared dead by the attending physician.

A search and rescue operation is ongoing to find Russel.

In barangay Gairan, Bogo City, a 43-year-old man drowned while spearfishing with his nephew past 1 p.m. last Saturday.

Police said Arnel Masong, 43, may have suffered a heart attack while fishing.

SPO3 Allan Dosdos, investigator of Bogo police, said there were no signs of foul play in the incident.
