Starting Nov. 1, the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) won’t collect the P5 terminal fee from passengers.

Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia issued the directive upon the request of Congress allies during their meeting at the Capitol today. The directive was approved by the Economic Enterprise Council (EEC).

The Capitol has been collecting the terminal fee since 2009 after it was re-opened to pay for costs in building an air-conditioned waiting area, TV sets, lounge seats and toilets.

Garcia said they are earning P1.5 million monthly from the collection of terminal fees. She said they are considering the possibility of charging the buses entering the terminal to offset the loss./ Correspondent Carmel Loise R. Matus
