ACTOR Eddie Guttierez yesterday signed up as a voter in Cebu City, part of the crowd of last-minute filers beating the Oct. 31 deadline.

His Manila-based celebrity daughter Ruffa is scheduled to do the same today, and brother Richard on Wednesday.

“This should dispel talks that I am backing out of the race,” said their mother, talent manager Annabelle Rama, who is seeking the congressional seat in Cebu City’s north district against former congressman Raul del Mar.

“I am running 100 percent. Wala na ni atrasan (There’s no turning back),” said Rama, cousin of reelectionist Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama.

Eddie told reporters the move was a matter of being practical as well as a sign of family support.

“We’re here almost every day so we decided to just transfer our voter’s registration here,” said Eddie who was accompanied by son John Rex ” Elvis” Guttierez and his girlfriend Alexa Uichico, who also transfered their registration.

Eddie’s new record shows that he is living in barangay Busay while Elvis’ and Alexa’s show that they live in Kamputhaw, Cebu  City.

Another son Raymond is based abroad “but everyone else, we are transferring our voter’s registrations here in Cebu City.”

City Hall put up tents and railings outside the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Cebu City at the request of Election Officer Marchel Sarno.

With some rain predicted this week, Sarno said voters may get drenched since he expects a big crowd of last-minute filers even though the program for registration was for two years.

“Comelec can only handle up to 500 persons per day,” he said./ Correspondent Edison delos Angeles and Jhunnex Napallacan
