With the holiday over, One Cebu party bets started house-to-house campaigns in barangay Looc, Mandaue City yesterday.

With former Tinago barangay captain Joel Garganera as their barker, the candidates started at 7 a.m. nd ended at the Looc gym past 11 a.m. with a group meal or “boodle fight” where they ate barehanded with Looc residents who spread food out on a table.

“We visit to see what’s their problem and what aid we can give to them in the future, because it is odd promising them something without knowing what we can help,” Garcia said. He said most sitios in barangay Looc can’t be reached by trucks.

With them were former congresswoman Nerrisa Soon-Ruiz who is running again for Cebu’s 6th district and Elmer Cabahug, candidate for Provincial Board.

In a speech, Soon-Ruiz chided former ally and incumbent Rep. Luigi Quisumbing of Cebu’s 6th district, saying he was seldom seen in Mandaue City.

Soon-Ruiz told reporters that she resigned as consultant of health matters to Mayor Jonas Cortes. /Correspondent Fe Marie Dumaboc
