THE Commission on Election (Comelec) in Mandaue City is asking for 205 teachers to man the voting centers in the city during the 2013 elections.
The teachers would serve as Board of Election Inspectors in the city’s precincts in voting centers set up in 26 schools in Mandaue City.
Mandaue Election Officer lawyer Anna Fleur Gujilde said that during the 2010 elections, there were only 195 BEI for 195 voting precincts.
But next year, there will be 205 voting precincts in the city and this still excluded the plan of having an additional precinct for persons with disabilities in each school and one for the Mandaue city jail, said Gujilde.
Gujilde sent the request for teachers last week to the Department of Education in Mandaue.
Gujilde said that after the last day of the registration of voters last October 31, the number of voters went up to 187,813 from the 2010 number of voters of 182,813.
Gujilde said the Comelec Mandaue office had updated their voters’ list. /Correspondent Jucell Marie P. Cuyos
