Police destroyed more than 200 confiscated slot machines at the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) this morning.

Senior Supt. Ramon Melvin Buenafe, Cebu City police chief, led the demolition of 200 slot machines, which include video karera, moli-moli, and bingo.

Within a month, about 214 machines worth P2.4 million were sequestered during their operations.

In an interview, Buenafe said the number of slot machines confiscated means they are serious in their campaign against illegal gambling. He said he considered it as his biggest accomplishment in his two years in office.

Last month, high ranking police officials, barangay officials and anti-crime volunteers held a rally in Fuente Osmena to ask for public assistance in reducing the problem./Correspondent Christine Emily Pantaleon
