Prov’l treasurer’s post, Capitol bonus uncertain

Posted on December 20, 2012

Cebu acting Gov. Agnes Magpale indicated the release of Christmas bonus of Capitol employees may depend on Provincial Treasurer Roy Salubre’s financial report.

The problem, Salubre has not reported to Magpale to report to her the financial standing of the Capitol.

Magpale said she has been calling Salubre to give her a report on the financial status of the provincial government. Determination of the financial status according to the acting governor is important in her decision how much the employees of the Capitol can get as Christmas bonus.

Traditionally, the bonus is distributed during the  Christmas party slated on Friday, but the suspension of Gov. Gwen Garcia starting last Wednesday may have changed the schedule.

Magpale has given Salubre until 5 p.m. today (Thursday) to report to her. Otherwise, Salubre may be replaced by Friday.

“My immediate concern is to know the financial status of the provincial government. If Roy Salubre will continue to defy my order, I’m giving him until 5 o’clock (p.m.) and tomorrow he will not be treasurer anymore.” Magpale told reporters in a press conference.

The order of DILG mandating Provincial Board Member Julian “Teban” Daan to take Magpale’s post as the acting vice governor but was not keen on accepting the post as he recognize Garcia, his partymate as the governor of Cebu./ Christine Pantaleon
