UNA officials visit Gwen

Bigwigs of the United Nationalist Alliance paid suspended Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia a visit in her Capitol office Sunday.

Known as the UNA big three, Vice Pres. Jejomar Binay, Senate Pres. Juan Ponce Enrile, former Pres. Joseph Estratda. showed up in the Capitol where Governor Garcia has been holed up since her suspension last Wednesday. Former Sen. Ernesto Maceda also joined the UNA leaders.

Security around the Capitol was tightened as the convoy of the UNA leaders and supporters arrived around 11 a.m. Sunday.

Supporters of the beleaguered governor from Mandaue City and Liloan town also came. They were joined by 93-1 lots settlers in Cebu City.

Gov. Garcia and settlers of  93-1 lots  — properties owned by the Capitol in Cebu City — for the mortgage through the government’s socialized housing program.

“Its the least that I can do as a leader of UNA. Whenever a member of UNA is belieger is to show my support because that is the mark of leadership,” Enrile told reporters./ Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus
