At least 26 families in an upland barangay in Naga City south of Cebu were evacuated from their homes when boulders and lose soil started sliding down the hill since Saturday noon.

Five houses have been destroyed.

The city government of Naga has set up tents about 50 meters away from the rubble but these are not enough to protect them from the cold winds during the night and the heat at midday. Residents are now suffering from cough and colds.

The city government officials will offer financial assistance of P10,000 each to the landslide victims while the Cebu Provincial Capitol is still assessing how they could be of help. / Reporter Candeze Mongaya
